I am America
OFFLINE
Title: I Am America (And So Can You!)
Author: Stephen Colbert
# of Pages: 240

Summary (from amazon.com): Realizing that it takes more than thirty minutes a night to fix everything that's destroying America, Colbert bravely takes on the forces aligned to destroy our country—whether they be terrorists, environmentalists, or Kashi brand breakfast cereals. His various targets include nature (I've never trusted the sea. What's it hiding under there?), the Hollywood Blacklist (I would have named enough names to fill the Moscow phone book), and atheists (Imagine going through life completely duped into thinking that there's no invisible, omniscient higher power guiding every action on Earth. It's just so arbitrary!). Colbert also provides helpful illustrations and charts (Things That Are Trying to Turn Me Gay) [and] a complete transcript of his infamous speech at the 2006 White House Correspondents' Dinner [...] all of which add up to a book that is sure to be a bestseller and match the success of Colbert's former Daily Show boss Jon Stewart's America (The Book).

Opinion: basically, if you're not a fan of The Colbert Report, Stephen Colbert, or if you dont understand and/or appreciate satire or sarcasm, you won't like this book. i, on the other hand, found it pretty funny. i loved all the added extras and 'footnotes'. Granted, much of the content was predictable considering i know the idea behind The Colbert Report, but it was still entertaining to read.

Frank Lampard insists ...
OFFLINE

Frank Lampard insists revenge will not be on Chelsea's agenda when they meet familiar foes Liverpool in the Champions League semi-final.

The Blues have failed to beat the Merseysiders in two previous last-four encounters in Europe's elite contest.

But the 29-year-old midfielder said: "Revenge is a dangerous emotion to tag to a football match because it's important you play with a cool head.

"Those previous games will have no bearing on this season's games."

Chelsea beat Fenerbahce 2-0 at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday to secure their place in the last four for the fourth time in five years.

But their path to the final has often been blocked by Liverpool. The Reds reached last year's final at Chelsea's expense via a penalty shoot-out victory after a 1-1 aggregate score, while the Blues were eliminated in 2005 by a controversial Luis Garcia goal in a 1-0 aggregate win.

"At Champions League level it is important you concentrate for every minute and the idea of revenge maybe means you don't play with your head as much," added Lampard, who scored during Tuesday night's quarter-final victory.

"They will be two entirely different games and we have to make sure we're at our best because we've got the great ideal of going to the final at the end of it."

Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez was confident his side could thwart Chelsea's Champions League ambitions for a third time following their 5-3 aggregate win over Arsenal.

"Now we have Chelsea again in the semi-final," he said. "Again it will be a very, very tough game against an excellent side. But we have enough experience of such matches and clearly the belief to succeed again.
